Enron: A Bizarre Comeback #

On the 23rd anniversary of Enron’s infamous bankruptcy, an unexpected buzz about the company returning emerged. A new website launched, presenting Enron as a rejuvenated energy firm devoted to tackling the global energy crisis. Filled with typical corporate imagery and statements, it included job listings and a dramatic video titled “I am Enron,” featuring a collage of cityscapes, space rockets, and dancers.

However, this resurgence is a performance facade primarily orchestrated to sell merchandise. The brand was acquired for $275 by an Arkansas-based LLC in 2020, spearheaded by creators known for the satirical “Birds Aren’t Real” theory. This initiative once spiraled into a popular youth movement, hinting at online rumors that suggest a potential digital venture by the new “Enron.”

Despite speculation of a crypto launch, any such claim remains as an online tease. An enigmatic countdown on the website foreshadows a mystery event in a week’s time. Meanwhile, the store section offers Enron-branded apparel and accessories, blending quirky nostalgia with modern irony.
